The Nagaland State Dairy Cooperative Federation(NSDCF) Ltd., Kohima.

The Nagaland state Dairy Co-operative Federation Ltd., set up in 2002 with the mandate to replicate Anand pattern Co-operative dairying in the State of Nagaland. Over the years, it has set up Milk Processing, Chilling Plants in almost all Districts Head Quarters to facilitate Milk Procurement and Marketing Avenue for Rural Dairy Farmers.

Considering the need for providing quality feed supplement with a view to enhance the productivity of Dairy Cattle in the State, the Federation has set up a unit for manufacture of complete Feed Block (CFB) at the existing Livestock Feed Plant, Kohima. The Project costing about Rs. 40.00 Lakhs was initiated with the Financial Assistance provided by the State Government. Preservation of fodder is an important issue for sustainable production of milk and other products during winter season. Considering this, the federation has taken up few functional dairy Co-operatives for silage making on pilot basis. Intensive fodder production has been taken up to facilitate the availability of much needed fodder to the animals through distribution of Fodder Mini-Kits such as Maize, Oats Seeds etc. The federation has also implemented a centrally Sponsored Scheme on Feed and Fodder Development, under which the progressive dairy farmers were given Manual & Power Chaff Cutter to facilitate proper utilization of available Fodder resources.

Under integrated Dairy Development Project (Centrally Sponsored Scheme), the Federation has initiated to establish a new State-of-the art Dairy Plant of 10,000 litres capacity at Kohima which will be equipped with UHT Plant and Milk Product Manufacturing Unit for Panner and Yoghurt. The project is expected to be commissioned during 2012-13.

The Federation has also implemented another Centrally Sponsored Schemes on strengthening infrastructure for quality and clean milk production scheme with a view to enhance the quality of milk at the grass-root level. Under this scheme, Awareness Campaign and Training were conducted amongst the progressive dairy farmers including the village functionaries in the organized Dairy Cooperative Societies of the existing Diary/Chilling Plants in the State. Apart from awareness generation, the beneficiary trainees were given clean milk production kits such as, Detergents, Utensils, Antiseptic solution etc.
