National Cooperative Union of India - Cooperative Education Field Project, Kohima District

     The National Cooperative Union of India is the apex organization in the country which is the member of International Cooperative Alliance in the world. The NCUI-CEFP was launched in Kohima district in April 2002. In the year 2008, NCUI-CEFP adopted Chipobozou block and has adopted new PACS and promoted 6 SHGs. So far, 30 PACS have been revitalized and 26 SHGs have been converted to Cooperative Societies and has organized 116 SHGs till date. Further in collaboration with NSCB Ltd., NRB and State Bank of India, 18 SHGS have availed KCC loan since inception of the project.

 The main objectives of the Project:

*   To revitalise Cooperative Societies (PACS)

*   Formation and promotion of Self Help Groups (SHGs)

*   Farm Technical Guidance

*   Health and Social Awareness,

*  To bring all round development of the weaker section the people in the rural areas.

 

              At present the Project is headed by the 1(one) Project Officer with 3 (three) Cooperative Education Instructor (CEI) 1(one) Lady Mobilizer, 1(one) LDC and 1(one) Peon. There is a Project Coordinator Committee consisting of 12(twelve) members by designation headed by the Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Nagaland as Chairman.

Under the Directive and Guidelines of head Office, NCUI New Delhi, the Project has been imparting Cooperative Education Programmes to the adopted Primary Agriculture Cooperative Societies (PACS) and Self Help Groups (SHGs) such as:-

*  Training Programme for Secretaries/Managers for making them more professional to focus on PACS as business model.* Managing Committee Members Training Programme to create awareness about their duties and responsibilities towards the societies.              

*  Training Programme for Member/ Potentials Members about the rules and  regulations   and relevance of the Cooperative Societies for their Socio economic development.

*  Motivational Meetings for Self Help Groups.

*  Participation & Guidance in MCM of SHG to guide them for their affective  

    functioning in coordination with the various organizations.

*   Social Development Programmers viz; education on family welfare, health

     (HIV/AIDS) Nutrition, Adult education, Social welfare.

*  Water Harvesting near the residence, climate change and other related activities.

*  Income Generation Meeting/Training for SHGs/PACS.

*  Conversion of SHG into Cooperative Societies.

*  Leadership & Skill Development.

*  Women Development Programmes.

* Liaison with Banks, Government Departments, Development Agencies and Local   Bodies/Organizations.
